Straight from the ocean to drizzled in champagne mignonette, here are some of San Diego’s best oyster happy hour deals.
Poppa’s Fresh Fish Company slogan of “If it was any fresher, you’d be under water” is seen throughout San Diego at local farmer’s markets. While best known for their fresh fish and sea butter uni, their first hour is oyster happy hour with fresh shucked shells at $1.25 a piece. Be sure to check the link for times and locations.
Pacific Beach Fish Shop (1775 Garnet Ave @ Kendall in Pacific Beach) has Dollar Oyster Night of $1 oysters from 4pm till they run out every Thursday. They offer a wide variety of choices that are well listed on a descriptive menu. Purchase tickets inside the shop and line up to pick out a selection at the patio bar.
Truluck’s (8990 University Center Lane @ Lebon Drive in University City) has featured $1.50 oysters from 4:30-7pm daily and all day on Sunday. A large order of oysters comes with a presentation of smouldering ice that will be sure to impress.
Blue Point (565 5th Ave @ Market St in Gaslamp / East Village) has Oysterfest for the whole month of April for enthusiasts. However all year long, they have $1 oysters on Monday-Friday from 5-6:30pm.
Oceanaire (400 J St @ 4th Ave in Gaslamp / East Village) Dine in old world style at their bar area where they offer a $1 oyster deal during happy hour which is on Monday-Friday from 5-6pm, on Monday-Thursday from 9pm till close, and on Sunday from 8pm till close.
Burlap (12995 El Camino Real @ High Bluff Drive in Del Mar / Carmel Valley) has their $1 oysters on Monday-Saturday from 4-7pm. Purists take note that this place has their oysters already prepped in the chef’s mignonette. ***Now changing over to be Searsucker! More to come.
